Event Report: Evening Mixer with Minister Canney

On 16th March, members of the IJCC Board of Directors were invited to attend a special evening mixer hosted by Ambassador of Ireland to Japan, Damien Cole at Ireland House in Yotsuya, Tokyo.

Those attending were joined by Seán Canney TD, Minister of State for International and Road Transport, Logistics, Rails and Port.

Minister Canney was visiting Japan as a part of the global celebrations for St. Patrick's Day 2026.

At the mixer we were delighted for the opportunity to speak on Chamber's role at the center the Ireland Japan business community in furthering exchange between the two countries.

We were equally grateful for the opportunity to thank Minister Canney in recognition of the importance of his visit in promoting connectivity between Ireland and Asia during a time of much uncertainty.

We would also like to take the opportunity to thank Minister Canney, Ambassador Cole, and H.E. Manabu Minagawa, Ambassador to Ireland from Japan for their participation in this year's Green Ireland Festival on 14-15 March.

During the festival they visited many of the booths to meet with members in our community that make the St. Patrick's Day celebrations possible every year.

Thank you again to Ambassador Cole and the Embassy of Ireland Tokyo for the opportunity to connect with Minister Canney during this imporant mission.
