☘️Profile☘️

My name is Eli Unger, the new Operations Manager for the IJCC.

I am originally from Cork, Ireland, and came to Japan to work in 2023. Before joining the IJCC as a staff member, I worked as a translator and interpreter for the City of Sendai and was also involved in initiatives to support foreign residents.

As part of this work I was involved with projects to increase disaster awareness amongst foreigners and SMEs, and learned of the importance of strengthening regular exchange and cooperation between businesses to increase resilience against hazards. After organizing a St. Patrick’s Day event in Sendai, I began to think about becoming more actively involved in promoting Ireland-Japan exchange, which is when I discovered the opening at the IJCC and joined in May, 2025.

I am currently responsible for the daily running of the Chamber, including promotion, event planning, external communications and administrative tasks. I hope that by planning meaningful events for IJCC members and by creating an inclusive space, the Chamber can promote exchange that goes beyond the boundaries of business and strengthens the support network and resilience of our members.

On a personal note, I have a light obsession with Japanese language literature, and welcome any conversation about books should you spot me at one of our events!

在日アイルランド商工会議所の事務局長に新たに就任しました、アンガー・イーライと申します。

アイルランド・コーク出身で、2023年に来日し、仙台市役所で翻訳・通訳、外国人支援業務を経験し、現職に至りました。

仙台で外国人・中小企業向けの防災啓発活動に携わってきた結果、企業間の平時の連携が有事に生きることを学び、有事に備えたレジリエンス強化のための日頃のビジネス交流と連携の重要性を確信しました。仙台でセントパトリックスデー関連のイベントを企画・実施したのをきっかけに、日愛間交流にもっと主導的に関わりたいと考えたところ、在日アイルランド商工会議所(IJCC)の求人が目に入り、ビジョンに共感し2025年5月に入所しました。

広報活動や渉外業務から、イベント企画やその他庶務まで、弊所の運営全般を担当しております。会員にとって有意義なイベントを企画・実施し、包摂的な場づくりに取り込むことにより、レジリエンス強化にもつながる、ビジネス関係を超えた絆ができるような交流を心掛けたいと思います。
