On May 25th, members of the Chamber were invited to the 2023 IJCC Annual General Meeting held at the Ambassador’s Residence in Tokyo.

IJCC Director Philip Greenan commenced the meeting as our MC for the evening.

The Ambassador of Ireland to Japan, and Chamber Patron, H.E Mr. Damien Cole opened with his reflection on the past year with the IJCC. Thank you to Ambassador Cole for his kind remarks and for welcoming the IJCC Board and members to his residence.

IJCC President Yoshihiro Tsuchiya also reflected on the past year for the Chamber, highlighting the successful return of the I Love Ireland Festival (ILIF) and the Ireland Japan Business Awards (IJBA). He also gave special thanks to our Platinum Sponsor Toyoko Inn and Knowledge and Information Partner ScoutAsia for their incredible support that sustains the Chamber. He also welcomed The Busker as our newest Platnimum Sponsor for FY2023.

Vice President Pat Ryan reported virtually via Zoom, sharing a detailed breakdown on Chamber membership over the last 12 months. He then handed over to Vice President Eamonn Murphy, who delivered a walkthrough of the past year of events, communications and committees. President Tsuchiya then concluded the year's overview with the financial review of FY2022, proposed budget for FY2023 and the ILIF financial review.

The Board of Directors proposed 2 amendments to the Chamber's Articles of Association, which was approved unanimously from the membership.

The membership also approved the budget for next year and all nominated Directors were approved. We now have a board comprising of 14 directors approved for FY2023.

Following the AGM, the first board meeting of the year was held. Yoshihiro Tsuchiya was re-elected to the position of President. President Tsuchiya will be joined by Aisling Barry and Sarah Hickey who were both elected as Vice President. Congratulations President Tsuchiya, Vice Presidents Aisling and Sarah!
