Event Report: St. Brigid's Day Women in Leadership Event with the Embassy of Ireland

On February 5th, the IJCC, in partnership with the Embassy of Ireland, hosted a Women in Leadership event to celebrate St. Brigid’s Day and Ireland’s commitment to diversity and equality. Following an introduction by Ambassador Damien Cole, we were delighted to welcome keynote speaker Andrea Dermody, Programme Director of Balance for Better Business, who shared her insights into developments in gender equality in Ireland and participated in a panel discussion on the female workplace experience in both Ireland and Japan.

The panel, facilitated by IJCC Vice President Aisling Barry, also featured Kaoru Kobu from the 30% Club Japan and Nobuko Kobayashi from the Japan Women’s Innovative Network (J-Win). Together, the panel discussed the realities of gender equality in the workplace, as well as the challenges facing both countries.

The panel was followed by an opportunity to network and exchange views on the topic of gender equality.

The event also featured a new interactive IJCC banner which was created with the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs. Scanning the QR code attendees are taken to a landing page introducing routinely updated IJCC initatives and data relating to DEI.

We would like to thank our co-host, the Embassy of Ireland, as well as the speakers who provided such valuable insight into the progress of women's participation in business in both Ireland and Japan.

Finally, thank you to all who attended the event. We look forward to seeing everyone again.
