KWAIDAN Exhibition Opens at Ushaw Historic House
The IJCC, represented by Dublin-based Director Dominic Keogh, was delighted to attend the opening of KWAIDAN: Encounters with Lafcadio Hearn at the William Allen Gallery, Ushaw Historic House, County Durham, England. The exhibition runs until November 2nd. Click here for more details.
This exhibition of 40 fine art prints (by 20 Japanese and 20 Irish artists) was inspired by Kwaidan, a book of ghost stories written by Patrick Lafcadio Hearn, who attended Ushaw College as a young scholar.
Special thanks to Lucy Jenkins, CEO of Ushaw Historic House, for opening the exhibition, and to Dr. Yukinori Okabe, Principal of Teiko University of Japan in Durham and Director of the Lafcadio Hearn Culture Centre, for his support.
Congratulations to Claire Marsland, Curator at Ushaw, and the entire team for staging such an excellent exhibition in such stunning surroundings.
Special congratulations also to the team behind Kwaidan, including Stephen Lawlor, Kate McDonagh, and Ed Miliano, together with Kieran Owens and Paula Kennedy, without whom this important cross-cultural project would not have been possible.
The IJCC is proud to be an official supporter of the Kwaidan Exhibition. For more information, please visit https://kwaidanexhibition.com/ or contact dominic.keogh@ijcc.jp
