Tokyo 2020 – An Update from Paralympics Ireland

Dear Members and Friends,

The IJCC is delighted to have the opportunity to speak with Paralympics Ireland on September 3 about how Ireland is preparing for Tokyo 2020.

Mr. Dave Malone, who won gold and set a ten-year World Record in the 100m Backstroke at Sydney 2000, will tell us about the ongoing qualification process and how the Irish athletes are training for the Tokyo Games. Mr. Trevor O’Rourke and Mr. Derek Kinnevey, both seasoned sports professionals, will speak to us about the logistics involved in ensuring that the team of elite athletes can succeed at the Games.

We will also have the opportunity to learn about the strong relationship which has developed between Paralympics Ireland and Narita, the city that will host the Irish team for their pre-games training camp.

There is now just under one year to go until the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, which will commence on August 24, 2021.

Be sure to join us if you would like to learn about the exciting prospects for Team Ireland at the Tokyo Games and how the team can be supported in Japan.
