Japan Tax Update by PwC - 2017 Japan Tax Reform

Our colleagues in the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce Japan have kindly invited IJCC members to one of their events later this month. You can attend the event at the same price as an NCCJ member. To register please see the instructions below.

You are cordially invited to the NCCJ Tax Seminar to be held on Wednesday 19 April from 17:00hrs.

Event overview
On December 8, 2016, the Japan ruling party coalition published the 2017 Tax Reform Proposal, with the stated purpose to support the healthy expansion of Japanese companies into growing global markets while limiting tax avoidance (among some other policy goals).  The proposed legislative package includes corporate tax measures that aim to support investments and to reward companies for raising employee salaries, alongside amendments consistent with the recent OECD recommendations to counteract “Base Erosion and Profit Shifting” by multinational enterprises.  In addition, the announced amendments in the area of inheritance and gift taxes may have profound impact for both Japanese nationals and foreign nationals residing in Japan, even after they leave Japan.

Experts from PwC will give NCCJ members their insight on how these changes may have an impact on their company’s business as well as on the taxation of individuals in relation to income, inheritances and gifts.  In this seminar, PwC will also focus on the details of new reporting rules in the field of transfer pricing – in short, transfer pricing refers to the price-setting of transactions between group companies – to help determine how these rules may impact subsidiaries of foreign multinationals operating in Japan.  PwC will provide an overview of the rules as well as strategies and approaches to help comply with the new rules.  In addition, they will provide a general update on transfer pricing in Japan such as the current tax audit and ruling environments, and other trade matters that may be of relevance.

After the seminar, please feel free to enjoy some snacks and refreshments, while strengthening your personal network with the other NCCJ members, or posing your questions to our speakers directly.
